Animation Project.
On the 15th October 2012 we got a new project and this was animation using an artist of our choosing. We have to research said artist (initially I had two artists).
These artists were René Magritte and C.M. Coolidge. "The Son of Man" by Magritte and "Dogs Playing Poker" by Coolidge, on the 21st of october I showed these to my tutor Tina Byrne.
I was leaning towards Coolidge and "Dogs Playing Poker" even though there was far more information on Magritte. The reason being that I have three dogs and thought I may be able to incorpoate them.
History on C.M. Coolidge.
C.M. Coolidge, nick-named "Cash" by those that knew him well was born on september 18th 1844 to parents who were old time Quakers, in Antwerp, New York. There isn't much known about his early life other than he went to different Institutes of learning and not much is known of what he chose to learn, other than when he left the last Institute he founded the first bank in his hometown of Antwerp in 1889 which was sold after a short time to John.D.Ellis and still survives today as the Jefferson Bank.
After this he did many things included being a chemist, founding a newspaper and being a cartoonist he also invented the plywood props with figures painted on them, seen a lot today in places such as Disney Land and amusement parks.
The paintings I am hoping to incorporate are the one's he painted for Brown and Bigelow printing company of St.Paul for calenders and other products. There were 16 in total known as "Dogs Playing Poker".
Today the 5th November I began by printing out some of the "Dogs Playing Poker" and using one I made a mind map. I then cut the rest into pieces I could use in a collage and started to play around with these to see what I could do. I fixed them in place and with a camera took pictures changing the collage every time to give the effect of movement. Being my first attempt I was very pleased to see that even though it was very crudly done, it did indeed work. Examples of this I have inserted below.
Next I am going to refine this work and see what changes I can make to improve it. I will look at imposing some of my dogs into it and will it work or if putting human bodies and dogs heads would work, or should I leave it as it is and have a good story line with some good music that might add to the quality.
